ASeTTS was proud to participate in the Settlement Council of Australia (SCOA) Conference 2025, held on the Sunshine Coast from 19-21 November. The conference brought together organisations and leaders from across the country to share insights, strengthen networks, and celebrate innovation in the settlement sector.

Our CEO Liza Beinart attended the event, representing ASeTTS and engaging with peers on the future of settlement services. A highlight of the conference was a poster presentation for the Community Innovators, Volunteers, and Leaders (CIVAL) program, which also received a Special Mention from the judging panel. The title of the abstract for the poster presentation was ‘Community Innovators, Volunteers, and Leaders – A Flagship Program for Growth and Empowerment’.

Our Community Development team provided feedback, including valuable input from student intern Thais Carrascoza, who is also a CIVAL Alumni and community leader, to contribute to the final poster design. We worked with graphic artist Shenali Perera on a special illustration demonstrating what CIVAL represents ‘Collective Healing for Belonging’. Together, their input ensured the poster reflected both the program’s vision and lived experience.

We also extend our gratitude to Shenali Perera, whose illustration captured the spirit of CIVAL and brought the poster to life. It also used the concept of ‘building bridges’ to demonstrate the journey of CIVAL.

This recognition at SCOA underscores the impact of the CIVAL program and the dedication of our team and community partners. We remain committed to empowering leaders, volunteers, and innovators who strengthen communities across Australia.
