How can counselling help?

Counselling helps people to talk about their problems and difficulties so they feel less troubled and more in control of their lives. It helps people to feel strong again, to feel more at peace, and to enjoy life and improve their relationships.

ASeTTS counsellors are professionally qualified and are trained to use a range of skills to assist and support people. Our staff include professionals from a range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

ASeTTS provides a range of counselling services as outlined below:

How does counselling work?

Each counselling session is usually 60 minutes long, and typically involves an experienced counsellor, professional interpreter (if needed) and the client. All discussions are confidential.

In some cases, a support person or family member can accompany a client for support. To respond to clients’ needs ASeTTS staff also conduct outreach services and home visits.
