The FICT program helps people settle into their new communities by providing education and information about the new Australian way of life, so that they can adjust more quickly to their new home.
In the 2023-24 Financial Year, three Families in Cultural Transition (FICT) programs were delivered with newly arrived humanitarian entrants from Burmese, Arabic and Latin American backgrounds. Each group had the opportunity to participate in six workshops focusing on trauma and selfcare, Aboriginal culture, Australian government and systems of law, Australian education, financial literacy and community engagement.
