CIVAL participants graduation

On Saturday 20th May 2023, the Community Volunteers, Innovators and Leaders (CIVAL) program held the graduation for participants at the City of Perth Library.

After six months and dedicating every second Saturday, the 6th group in the CIVAL program, completed 14 modules including leadership, community association management, conflict management and community project management.

This group consisted of 28 participants from 17 different countries and speaking 12 languages between them. Participants Olga and Jawaria shared their experiences of participating in the program with guests. The MC, Nicolas, was one of the participants of the program and was voted by the group to host the event and did an amazing job.

We also had the privilege of a performance by Echoes of Ukraine, a Ukrainian choir, thanks to one of the CIVAL participants who is a member of the choir.

Thank you to all the facilitators who delivered training throughout the program, to everyone who came to the graduation and to everyone involved in making this group such an incredible success including our two student placements. Special thank you to the Department of Home Affairs and City of Stirling for supporting and funding this program.

The CIVAL program has been running since 2015 and over 100 emerging community leaders from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds have completed the program. We are excited to see the difference these emerging community leaders will make in supporting their communities in the future.
